WHITEWRIGHT — The Whitewright ISD has hired former Gonzales head coach Shawn Dalbert to run the boys basketball program. 

Dalbert replaces Phil Kempson, who resigned to become the girls athletic coordinator and head girls basketball coach at his alma mater, Quinlan Ford. 

This past season Gonzales was 23-13 and won a district title before a two-point loss to Bellville in the area round.

Dalbert takes over a program that went 33-3 this past season before losing to two-time state champion Ponder in the region final.
