PALESTINE — Collinsville senior Coby Ragsdale and the Pirates 1,600 relay team qualified for the state track meet at the Class 1A Region III meet held over the weekend.
Ragsdale took second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.80 while the Collinsville relay team won the region title in a time of 3:25.46 to advance.
The state track meet will be held on June 5-6 at Mike Myers Stadium in Austin.
As a team, Collinsville finished third due to some other strong performances. The 400 relay team took third and was two-tenths of a second from reaching state but was also just 0.01 seconds ahead of fourth-place Itasca.
Brett Simmons took third in the pole vault with a leap of 12 feet, six inches and Cory Ragsdale was sixth in the 110 hurdles.
Blue Ridge’s Mike Ladner was fourth in the discus with a toss of 134 feet, six and a half inches. Ladner was 11th in the shot put.
On the girls side, Wolfe City had three girls earn points.
Larissa Lewis was third in the shot put with a heave of 37 feet, seven and a half inches while Kathleen Stewart was fourth in the 3,200 with a time of 13:44.71 and Kealy Gaffney was sixth in the 100 hurdles.
Savoy’s Marquin Malone was 12th in the triple jump.
