Honey Grove falls in Game 1 of bi-district

PARIS — Jessica Withers and Leila Calabria had sacrifice flies in the top of the 10th inning to score Sara Beth Upchurch and Jesi Davis, and Prairiland held on in the bottom half of a 3-2 win against Honey Grove in Class 2A Region II bi-district softball action on Friday night.

Regan Rickman had a two-out RBI single to pull the Lady Warriors within a run, but she was stranded at second base to end the game.

Calabria struck out 15, while Chanda Foster gave up nine hits and three runs (two earned) with 10 strikeouts.

Rickman finished 2-for-4 with a walk, while Shelby Neeley had a hit and scored twice for Honey Grove.

Game 2 was suspended in the top of the third inning on Saturday with the score tied 2-2. It resumes at 5 p.m. today with a third game following if necessary. Lady Warrior Braley Barnett faces a full count with runners on second and third when play resumes.

The winner advances to face Brock, the winner of District 9-4A which received a first-round bye.
